The Zoo
Our web site revamp is finally into a testing phase. We're hoping to be able to unveil the new digs at the same time we release the 1.5 patch, so the end of this month is really shaping up to be something big around here To address the concerns of all of our forum regulars... it does look as though post counts will be lost Our Web Monkey is trying to find a way to preserve them, but since the new forums will not be getting actual posts migrated over, we're not sure that there's a way to actually move counts over as well. I have a horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach that some of you (and you know who you are ) won't have any problems racking totals right back up there
e-Tools 1.5 Patch
The patch is still in reviews at WotC. It's looking really solid in our ongoing internal testing (including a handful of little touch-ups here and there), so we're still holding out for a late-May release. If late-May turns into the first couple of days of June, though, we expect to see the rolling of a few eyes, but no shocked gasps, please There are still a few 3.5 tables that need re-linking that may push us a few days past the approval from WotC, and we want to be sure that this wave of releases all comes out right. On the plus side, though, we've found a way to start implementing random generation across data sets (rather than being locked in to the Core books), so we'll be able to start including the data updates for that this month (and will take a release or two to get all the data updated to support it).
e-Tools 3.0 Data Sets
We've got another batch of help-file conversions ready to compile into new help files for this month's update. The Arms & Equipment Guide, Unapproachable East, Pool of Radiance and Into the Dragon's Lair should all be getting help files included this time around... that will bring our list of outstanding outages down to just a handful, and Mynex is working now to get the sources ripped out of publisher format into something we can compile into help files, so we're hoping to get these all wrapped up by the June-ish data update. As long as he's been at it, Mynex also has a new batch of portrait files ready for us to start shipping in the next update, too. These distribution files are just going to keep getting bigger and bigger
e-Tools 3.5-Conversion Data Sets
The 3.0->3.5 conversions are now well underway. We don't have an official ETA for them at this point, but our Head Data Monkey is chest-deep in data right now and making some very promising progress... we'll see if we can get a quote from him for next week's Update.
PCGen 3.0 Data Sets
We'll have one more set completed for the next update: Into the Dragon's Lair. We're also working on making some across-the-board tweaks to all the current data sets to take advantage of some optimization tweaks that have gone in to the official Production Release patch of PCGen, which should be out in the next 2 weeks or so. This time around we're going to be doing our complete suite of testing after the official patch is out to make sure there aren't any "surprises" this time. This means that the next data update won't happen until a "little while" after the official patch is out. We're also looking into creating a multi-platform installer for our PCGen data sets to help aid in the setting up of the data. We may end up falling back on a Windows installer plus raw ZIP file in our distribution packages... but that would lead to roughly double-sized downloads, so we're pushing hard to find a single solution that'll work on Windows, Mac and *nix (fingers crossed).
PCGen 3.5 Data Sets
The 3.5 Core is bordering on completion, finally! Our Testing crew right now thinks it'll be ready for a release early- to middle-June, so everyone who's been overly-patient with 3.5 PCGen pre-orders may want to be sure to start warming up their download links now (if you need new copies sent, please just drop us a request at customer.service@codemonkeypublishing.com).
